A new spin on the fishtail braid

I left the Marchesa show wanting three things: a reason to wear one of her gorgeous gowns, one of her gorgeous gowns, and the modified fishtail braid that Frederic Fekkai hairstylist Renato Campora created for the show. I guess one out of three ain’t bad.

To try the hairstyle at home, apply volumizing mousse and blow dry hair with a round brush to give your roots lift. Next, straighten hair with a flat iron. Create a side part and pull hair back into a low ponytail. About three inches down from the base of the pony, start a fishtail braid (for a fishtail how-to, click here). Only do the fishtail for about an inch or two, then secure it by sliding a bobby pin up the center of the braid. Let the rest of your hair hang loose and finish with a light-hold hairspray like Fekkai Sheer Hold Hairspray, $24.
