Prom Makeup: Find Your Look

Prom dress — check. Prom hairstyle — check. Prom makeup — hmmmm.

If you haven’t thought about your makeup look for prom, now is definitely the time. After all, it’s a big night, your usual swipe of blush and lipgloss isn’t going to cut it. But don’t worry, you don’t have to book some pricey makeup artist (unless you want to). We’ve got all the info you need to get a fab prom makeup look at home.

Our expert celebrity makeup artist, Taylor Babaian, has some experience with prom makeup. She volunteers for No Worries Now, which holds a prom each year for teens with life-threatening medical conditions (for more info on how you can volunteer, donate or participate in this year’s event, on June 18 in Culver City, Calif., check out their website here).

Babaian is using her expertise at prepping celebrities to get these girls — and you — ready for prom. No matter what prom makeup look you have in mind, we’ve got the tips to make it happen.

Of course, with every “do” there’s a “don’t,” so before you check out our prom makeup dos, read a few of Babaian’s don’ts:

1. Don’t let your makeup clash with your dress — you want to go for an overall “look.”

2. Don’t automatically go for a smoky eye. Babaian says it can easily go nutso if you don’t know what you’re doing.

3. Don’t try to pop a pimple right before prom — it’s a disaster waiting to happen (we’ll show you what to do in this story).
