Looking for a job? Unfortunately, you’re not alone. Fortunately, you have come across these expert tips so you’ll look your absolute best for any job interviews you score.
Sure, a good resume and interview skills are key, but let’s be honest. Their first impression of you is the moment you stand up in the reception area. If your appearance is lacking at a job interview, it’s strike one before you even open your mouth.
That’s why we talked to the experts: Dr. Lois Frankel, author of “Nice Girls Don’t Get the Corner Office,” plus Jerami Brown from Paul Labrecque Salon in New York and celebrity makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic. They told us exactly what you should wear and how to do your hair and makeup for any job interview. With their advice you won’t be disqualified because of your appearance. (If you blow it while talking, that’s not on us.)
To start, check out Dr. Frankel’s “don’ts” for any job interview, then click to the next slide to see the “dos.”
No:
– Flip-flops or sandals
– Jeans (even if everyone in the company wears jeans, they’re not appropriate for an interview)
– Low-cut blouses or shirts that show your stomach
– Crazy jewelry
– Visible tattoos or piercings (earrings being the obvious exception)
Why can’t you wear any of these? Well, aside from the obvious — you’ll look unprofessional — all of them show questionable choices. If you can’t even make good decisions for a job interview, your interviewer is going to wonder what else you’ll mess up. Not the best way to start.
