Day 2: Taking my first baby steps
Hairstylist Natasha Sunshine says that if I’m nervous about changing up my hair, the easiest transition is to play around with texture. “Mini braids are a great way to add texture to an asymmetrical cut,” she says. So for day two, I try a wavy version of my typical look.
1. I start by blow drying my hair using just my hands to give it a rough texture.
2. Once my hair is dry, I wrap small pieces of hair around the barrel of a 1-inch curling iron to create waves throughout my hair. Then I use my fingers to soften the waves.
3. Next, I braid three small sections of hair and weave them together to form a slightly larger braid. I secure it down with bobby pins, and bring some hair forward to cover the pins.
4. I finish by misting my hairstyle with Pureology Colour Styling Strengthening Control Hairspray, $19.
