Jeans are like T-shirts. Many shops don’t consider them “officially” vintage, though you can find denim from the ’70s onward at some second-hand stores. But unlike T-shirts, they are probably one of the most difficult things to buy. As Easley says, “Shopping for vintage denim is not for the faint of heart.”

Not only do you have to worry about the fit, but the size and placement of the back pockets on vintage jeans doesn’t flatter most modern day shapes, Easley explained. Instead, Easley recommends looking into more contemporary brands that are currently reproducing some of the great vintage styles, like 7 For All Mankind, Citizens of Humanity, and Joe’s Jeans.
