Seth McFarlane tried his best, but the 2013 Academy Awards were a bit of a snooze-fest. Sure, Michelle Obama announcing best picture was pretty epic, but we had way more fun seeing all the designer gowns during the red carpet arrivals than we did watching anything during the actual show … even though that Harry Potter tap dance was pretty cute.
Thankfully, the actresses at the 2013 Oscars brought it with their dresses. There were some bright pops of color, creative cutouts, and I’m totally stealing Jennifer Lawrence’s idea of wearing her necklace backwards; it was so pretty.
These dresses were so good that we had to throw together our own little awards show — or gallery, whatever. We picked our favorites when it came to color, fabric, and overall style. Even if the actresses didn’t get to take home a statuette they’re still getting some major props from us.
