Cox agrees, “It’s a very desired shape, and considered by society to be very pretty.” But, while you might have a lot of options, that doesn’t mean you can just throw on a sheet and call it a day. You still need to highlight your curves so they don’t disappear under a ton of fabric.

Rygorsky says, “Someone with an hourglass body type should look for a gown that is fitted throughout the top and waist so that it shows off her enviable curves. For a screen siren look, she could even go for a mermaid shaped gown that hugs all of her curves, and then flares out at the bottom.” And if there’s any shape to avoid, Cox says it’s a gown with an empire waist. “It’s not going to extenuate your trim middle section.”
