| Catherine is jazzed. Just when a girl thinks she has it all, she wins an Oscar. On Oscar night, Catherine once again was the epitome of elegance and class. You can copy her wine-drenched palette on your next big night. |
FACE |
|
|
| Foundation / concealer
|
Start with clean, exfoliated skin. After allowing moisturizer to soak in, apply concealer to the inner corners of the eyes and underneath to cover dark circles. Apply a small amount of concealer to the eyelid as an eye shadow base.
Apply foundation to any uneven areas of your face. For evening, you can apply a light coat over most of your face and blend into your neck. Use light, downward strokes. |
| Blush |
Apply a deep mauve or wine blush in thin layers until you have a delicate glow. If your face is full or round, apply blush to the apples of your cheeks. Otherwise, you can go a little higher on the cheekbone. |
EYES |
|
|
| Eyelid |
Apply a medium wine or purple shadow from the lid to the crease. Next sweep just a thin line of this shade right against the lower lash line. |
| Crease |
Apply a deep wine or purple shadow in the crease from corner to corner. Blend very well. |
| Hilite |
Use a pearly gold or vanilla sparingly just under the arch of your brow. Use just enough to brighten your eyes. Blend very well. |
| Eyeliner |
Use a dark brown or black liquid liner.
Liquid liner is a bit of an art, so be sure to practice a couple of times before the big night. Apply a thin line across the top lash line, from corner to corner, getting in between the lashes. Next, line your lower lashes very delicately between the lashes.
Finally, trace a super-thin, delicate line around the inner corners of the eyes. |
| Mascara |
Curl the upper lashes. Coat upper lashes two times with a black, lengthening mascara.
For evening, you can add some individual false lashes to the top lash line. Falsies take practice, too, so be sure to try it a couple of times before the actual event. |
| Brows |
Use a sharp pencil to shape and fill in your brows, if needed. Choose a shade as close to your hair color as possible or just a bit darker.
Start by defining the arch of each brow. Step back and look at your entire face in the mirror, and then fill in the rest of the brow as necessary. |
LIPS |
|
|
|
If your lips need smoothing, brush them gently with an old, soft toothbrush. Then apply petroleum jelly and allow it to soak in for 30 or more minutes.
Choose a brownish-wine or mauve lipliner and lipstick.
Apply one coat of the lipstick and blot with tissue, then apply a second coat. Repeat for longer lasting power. Then, line the lips, blending lip pencil into lip color just a bit. |
