Gwyneth Paltrow at the 74th Annual Academy Awards

Chins dropped and eyes bulged when the usually pale and frail Gwyneth Paltrow stepped onto the red carpet looking like a rocker and revelling in her rebellion. This look works day or night if the attitude is right.

FACE
Foundation / Concealer After moisturizing, apply concealer to the inner corners of the eyes and underneath to cover dark circles. Apply a small amount of concealer to the eyelid for a base foundation before applying shadow.

Use a sheer foundation shade as close to your natural skin tone as possible and apply to any areas of the face that need evening out. Blend well.
Blush Use a pink or berry cream blush, depending upon which compliments your skin tone better. You should apply your blush in the style that best suits your face. Round faces look better with blush applied to the apple of the cheek, while narrower faces can take blush on the cheekbone. Apply blush one light layer at a time until you have a delicate, pink glow.
EYES
Eyelid Apply pewter blue (definitely not baby blue) from the lid to the crease. Dot some in the inner corners of the eyes for extra glamour.
Crease Apply a dark purple or plumb in the crease from corner to corner and on the outer third of lid.
Hilite Apply a flesh or pearl color under the arch of the brow to lift the eye.
Eyeliner Using a dry brush, layer the same blue and plumb shadows used on the lids and crease under the lower lashes. Start with the blue and apply underneath the entire lash line. From the outer corner in, apply the plumb to just past the iris.

Now line the entire eye with a dark black pencil.
Brows Use a pencil to shape and fill in brows. Start by defining the arch and then fill in the rest as necessary.
Lashes Curl lashes and coat two or three times with a black, lengthening mascara.

If you want a more glamorous look, use a cake mascara to make lashes super thick.

LIPS
To get glass-smooth lips, try brushing them very gently with an old, soft toothbrush. Then apply petroleum jelly and allow it to soak in for 30 or more minutes.

Choose a matching lipliner and lipstick in a berry or watermelon and then apply gloss to give lips high shine like Gwyneth’s.
